General Overview of the Finmail Webmail User Interface

< All Topics

After successfully authenticating, the Finmail webmail screen is divided into distinct functional parts, which are outlined below:

(1) Application Tasks

The webmail application offers various main tasks such as Email, Address Book, Settings, etc. Use this list to seamlessly switch between tasks. By selecting a specific task, the screen will reload to display a tailored view. To avoid unnecessary switching, task screens can be opened in individual browser windows or tabs. Simply right-click on a task icon in the list and choose ”Open Link in New Tab/Window” from the browser’s context menu.

In addition to the main tasks, the Logout button is also conveniently located in this section.

(2) Status Display

This area of the screen is dedicated to displaying status notifications, including confirmations, warnings, and errors. These notifications will inform you about the success or failure of operations performed within the application. Furthermore, while the application is performing tasks or loading data, relevant notifications will be displayed here.

(3) Toolbar

The primary toolbar is consistently positioned above the content area and enables you to execute various actions based on the content displayed or selected in the window. Grayed-out buttons indicate that the corresponding action is not available for the current selection. Moreover, if a toolbar icon features a small arrow on its right side, clicking it will display alternative variations of the action to be executed.

Additional actions can be accessed by clicking the ”More” button, if available.

(4) List Operations

Icons positioned in the footer area of a list provide actions that affect the list above or the currently selected element within the list. The gear icon typically opens a menu displaying additional actions.

(5) Search Box

If the currently selected task allows for data searching (e.g., email messages or contacts), a search box is situated in the upper-right corner above the mail list or the main content area. To initiate a search, enter your desired search term and press <Enter> on the keyboard. To clear the search, click the clear icon located on the right side of the search box.

A search icon, located to the left of the search box, may reveal hidden search options within a drop-down menu.

Resizing Content Boxes

Certain boxes that occupy the main content area of the screen can be resized. Locate the resize handle splitter positioned between two boxes, and drag it using the mouse.
