Privacy Enhancement Gateway

The Privacy Enhancement Gateway helps prevent accidental exposure of sensitive data when you use AI features or external integrations.

Where to configure

Open Settings → Privacy gateway (/settings/privacy) or the privacy entry in the mail sidebar tools section.

What it does

  • Masks or blocks patterns such as account numbers, phone numbers, and custom keywords before content is sent to external AI providers.
  • Applies to AI insights, compose assist, and Ask Finmail when gateway rules are active.
  • You can add custom secret keywords for firm-specific terms (fund names, deal codenames).

Recommended workflow

  1. Add keywords your compliance team cares about.
  2. Draft sensitive replies with compose assist — review redaction highlights.
  3. Pair with Secure Share instead of pasting full threads into unsecured channels.
