Email askgpt@, askgem@, and Agent addresses for AI replies in your inbox.
Ask AI by email lets you send a question from your Finmail mailbox to a dedicated @finmail.com address and receive an AI reply in the same thread. It is separate from Ask Finmail in Webmail (⌘K), which searches and reasons over your live mailbox inside the app.
Addresses
Send from a mailbox that belongs to your Finmail account (primary or linked send-as / account address). Mail from unknown or suspended senders is ignored — you will not receive a reply.

Pick the recipient to choose the engine — no extra setup in Webmail settings.
How to use
- Compose a new message from your Finmail address (Webmail or an external client).
- Put one of the addresses above in To.
- Write your question in the body (required). A subject alone is ignored — empty body means no reply. You can forward or reply with prior thread context; Ask AI reads the message body text, not the subject line as the prompt.
- Send. The reply arrives as Re: your subject, from the same Ask AI address, quoting your original message.
Sensitive patterns in the prompt may be redacted before the model runs and restored in the reply when appropriate (Privacy gateway concepts apply to AI egress).
Quotas
Ask AI by email uses your plan’s Ask AI daily message allowance and monthly token budget for this email channel. When you hit a limit, Finmail emails you a clear notice instead of silently inventing a reply.
- Limits reset on the schedule shown in the notice (typically the next calendar day for daily caps).
- Upgrade or wait for reset if you need more capacity (Professional guide · Billing).

Tips and limits
- Keep questions concrete; long threads may be trimmed to fit model context.
- Put the question in the body — subject-only mail is discarded with no AI reply.
- Agent addresses can consult the public web; standard addresses answer from the model plus your email text only.
- Do not send passwords, one-time codes, or payment card numbers.
