How to point brokerage and bank statements at a second mailbox
Finmail Product
Broker and bank statement email is not a Gmail filter. Schwab, Fidelity, Vanguard, Interactive Brokers, and Chase each keep their own address on file. This page is the index: which firm to change, and which mailbox to give them.
Keep Gmail for everyday mail. Issuers already file @gmail.com. You are only choosing which box gets the next statement or 1099 notice.
Pick the mailbox first
| You want | Use |
|---|---|
| Isolation inside Google, $0 | A second Gmail. Most people should stop here. |
| Swiss hosting and end-to-end encryption | Proton Mail |
| Generic paid IMAP, not a finance-only product | Fastmail — often enough |
| US-hosted mailbox for investing, banking, and tax, off Google | [email protected] on Professional |
Finmail is Virginia IMAP, not end-to-end encryption. @finmail.com is weaker than a domain you own. Do not point a Hong Kong or Singapore local bank at this box.
Change each firm on its own site
Menus move. Each walkthrough links the issuer’s help. Contact email and statement / tax delivery are often separate screens.
| Institution | What is easy to miss | Guide |
|---|---|---|
| Charles Schwab | Retail vs Alliance; per-account paperless; former TD Ameritrade | Change Schwab statement email |
| Fidelity | eDelivery vs profile email; NetBenefits is a second login | Change Fidelity statements and tax forms |
| Vanguard | Personal Delivery settings vs plan Mailing preferences; bounces can revert to paper | Change Vanguard statements and tax forms |
| Interactive Brokers | Account email vs Alert Notifications; US-rail only | Update IBKR notification email |
| Chase | Profile email, Alerts delivery, and Paperless are three settings | Change Chase statement email |
K-1s and CPA threads are not a broker screen. Give the accountant the same address: where to receive K-1s and 1099s.
Keep the old inbox until a live statement or tax notice arrives at the new address. One billing cycle is normal.
What this is not
- Not IRS e-file, not a tax-agency account, not a CPA portal.
- Not a phishing or account-takeover product.
- Not a request to migrate work mail off Workspace.
Professional is $29/mo, 14-day trial, card required, if the job is a finance-only box off Google.
