Personal Gmail is excellent at being Gmail. This page is not an argument that Gmail (or Outlook, or another consumer mailbox) is “not enough,” and it is not a Superhuman-on-Gmail story about saving an hour a day.

It is for a narrower job: US investing, banking, and tax mail should not live inside Google. Finmail is independently hosted IMAP in Virginia. It is not a Gmail alternative, and it is not “more professional From than Gmail.” Banks file @gmail.com every day.

A second Gmail is often enough

A second Gmail address is isolation inside Google — same phone, recovery, and account. It is the strongest $0 substitute. Most people should stop there.

Choose Finmail only if the job is that this slice of mail must not sit at Google.

If counterparts already trust your Gmail, keep using it. Finmail is for when the mail should leave Google and live in a US-hosted, finance-dedicated IMAP box — not a plugin on Gmail, and not a second Gmail on the same Google account.

A hosted @finmail.com address is a US-hosted professional identity. It is not a statement about nationality, and it is not as strong as a domain you own.

Honest limits

  • Your own domain is still stronger. [email protected] or [email protected] beats any hosted suffix, including @finmail.com. That path is Finmail Team ($59/seat/mo, DNS/MX, no trial) — not Professional.
  • This is not a work-mail replacement. If your firm is on Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, leave it there. See a second mailbox for personal finance.
  • Finmail is not a Gmail overlay. Mail lives on Finmail’s IMAP/SMTP, not in a Gmail API layer.
  • Not a cryptocurrency payment mailbox. Finmail does not send or receive BTC or USDT by email.
