A professional From for bank and brokerage onboarding
Finmail Product
Brokerage and bank applications look at the From line before they read a privacy policy. A consumer address is easy to recognize. It is also easy to treat as casual mail — which is fine for friends and newsletters, and awkward when the form asks for a professional or permanent email.
This page is for that form. It is not an argument that Gmail is “not enough,” and it is not a request that your firm leave Google Workspace or Microsoft 365.
What the desk actually sees
Onboarding teams file an address they may write to for years: statements, tax documents, and the occasional call-back. [email protected] is familiar. For some desks it still reads as a personal inbox. That is a filing preference, not a moral judgment.
A hosted [email protected] is a US-hosted professional suffix — production in Virginia, commercial operations in Hong Kong. It is weaker than [email protected]. If you already own a domain and can change MX, that job is Team, not Professional.
It is also not a statement about nationality. Where Finmail hosts production, who operates the company, and where software is built are spelled out on the Security Trust Center.
Keep the inbox you already use
- Daily mail, shopping, and newsletters stay on Gmail or whatever already works.
- Employer and deal-team mail stays on
firm.com. See a second mailbox for personal finance. - Give the bank or broker the
@finmail.comaddress on the application. Use that box when they write back.
Professional is self-serve: $29/mo, 14-day trial, card required, cancel in the billing portal before day 15. There is no IT ticket and no MX change at the firm.
When a consumer From is still the right answer
Keep Gmail (or another consumer mailbox) when the institution already has that address on file and the relationship works. Switching From lines mid-relationship has a cost. Finmail does not pretend otherwise.
If the requirement is Swiss hosting and end-to-end encryption, Proton Mail is the product for that job. Finmail will not claim to be “more secure.”
What this does not guarantee
- Acceptance. Some forms still insist on a company domain. A hosted suffix can fail that check. Your own domain is the stronger From.
- Deliverability. Professional mail still needs ordinary hygiene. Do not blast; do not spoof.
- Attachments. A cleaner From does not make a K-1 disappear from MIME. For packets you do not want copied into every downstream inbox, use Secure Share or the K-1 send guide.
