How to change your Wells Fargo email for statements

Wells Fargo will keep sending statement notices, alerts, and service mail to the addresses on the profile. If that is your everyday Gmail, bank mail sits next to shopping. This page is how to change the Wells Fargo email — not a credit-card-only tidy-up, and not an argument that Gmail is unsafe.

Keep Gmail for everyday mail. Wells Fargo already files ordinary addresses, including Gmail. You are only choosing which mailbox should receive the next statement notice.

This walkthrough is for a US Wells Fargo Online relationship (checking, and the statements that come with it). If you also have brokerage statements (Wells Fargo Advisors / WellsTrade), document-delivery email is a second screen. A single card’s marketing mail is not the job.

Three settings, not one

Wells Fargo splits Update Contact Information, Manage Delivery Preferences (bank statements), and brokerage Document Delivery Preferences. Saving a new contact email does not always move bank statement notices, and it does not move brokerage notifications.

Official pages (menus move; these are the source of truth):

Wells Fargo says it emails you when a statement is ready, and that you must keep a valid email. The PDF still lives under Statements & Documents. Email is usually a notice.

Change the Wells Fargo contact email

  1. Sign in at wellsfargo.com (Wells Fargo Online).
  2. Open Update Contact Information. Review email addresses, phone numbers, and mailing addresses.
  3. Add or edit the email that should receive bank mail. Save.
  4. Confirm any message Wells Fargo sends to the new address.

If the new mailing address is outside the United States, Wells Fargo’s profile FAQ says to call 1-800-956-4442 rather than finishing the change only online.

Finmail cannot edit Wells Fargo’s profile for you.

Point bank and brokerage delivery at the same mailbox

  1. Open Statements and Documents → Manage Delivery Preferences. Choose how eligible bank accounts receive statements (online only vs paper). Joint accounts share one delivery preference — any owner can change it, and it applies to everyone on the account.
  2. If an eligible account is missing from that page, Wells Fargo says to link it under Profile & Settings → Account Settings, or call 1-800-956-4442.
  3. If you receive electronic brokerage statements, Wells Fargo’s profile FAQ is explicit: sign on, open the Brokerage tab, and under Customer Service choose Document Delivery Preferences. That is the email for brokerage notifications — not the same control as Update Contact Information.
  4. Brokerage statements themselves: Portfolio → Statements & Docs. Paper stays on until you change Delivery Preferences on that page.

Wait for the next statement cycle before you stop watching the old inbox. If you switch back to paper, Wells Fargo notes the next statement may still arrive online, with later months on paper.

Login and account quirks

  • Bank vs brokerage. Checking, savings, cards, and mortgages use Manage Delivery Preferences. Advisors / WellsTrade use Document Delivery Preferences under the Brokerage tab.
  • Alerts are another destination. Language preference and some alerts can follow a different path than statement notices. If you use email alerts, open that screen and match the new address.
  • Combined statements. Prime / Premier / combined statements still follow delivery preferences, but the packet can include several products. Check the row, not only the primary email.
  • US Wells Fargo. This page is the US rail. Local bank mail in Hong Kong or Singapore stays on the inbox you already use there.

The new address, and what this page does not do

A second Gmail is isolation inside Google at $0 — most people should stop here. Swiss hosting and end-to-end encryption are Proton Mail. Generic paid IMAP is Fastmail. [email protected] is only for US-hosted investing, banking, and tax mail that should not stay at Google. The mailbox table and Virginia IMAP notes live on the statement-email index.

Changing the delivery address does not stop impersonation mail. Treat unexpected “verify your account” links the same way you would in Gmail.

This walkthrough does not replace Wells Fargo Online, Statements & Documents, or the mobile app. It does not file your return. It does not enroll an ineligible account in online statements — missing rows belong on Manage Delivery Preferences, or with Wells Fargo support.
