How to change your Robinhood email for statements and tax forms

Robinhood will keep sending account notices, tax-document alerts, and service mail to the email in Account → Settings. If that is your everyday Gmail, brokerage mail sits next to shopping. This page is how to change the Robinhood email — not an argument that Gmail is unsafe, and not a request that you migrate work mail.

Keep Gmail for everyday mail. Robinhood already files ordinary addresses, including Gmail. You are only choosing which mailbox should receive the next notice that a statement or 1099 is ready.

This walkthrough is for a US Robinhood investing account (and the related Crypto, Money, Retirement, or Strategies accounts on the same app). It is not a bank paperless page: monthly statements and tax PDFs live in the app. Email is typically a notice.

Settings is not Tax center

Robinhood stores the account email under Personal information. Tax documents open in Tax center. Monthly statements open under Reports and statements. Saving a new email does not move last year’s 1099 out of Tax center, and it does not turn Robinhood into a Schwab-style eDelivery toggle.

Official pages (menus move; these are the source of truth):

Robinhood’s tax help says it emails you when tax documents are ready (for tax year 2025, the consolidated 1099 package is described as due by February 17, 2026). Download the PDF in Tax center. Web classic is often better for downloads than the mobile app.

Change the Robinhood account email

  1. Open the Robinhood app or robinhood.com.
  2. Select Account → Settings.
  3. Under Personal information, select your email address.
  4. Enter the mailbox that should receive Robinhood notices, tap Continue, and finish the on-screen verification.

Finmail cannot edit Robinhood’s records for you. If Settings will not save, use in-app support.

Confirm statements and 1099s still use that mailbox

  1. After the email is confirmed, keep using Account → Menu → Tax center for 1099s. Email is the “documents are ready” notice, not the form itself.
  2. Open Reports and statements → Monthly statements for account PDFs. Robinhood generates monthly statements when there is activity, otherwise a quarterly statement — you cannot switch that cadence yourself.
  3. If you change personal information after a 1099 has already been issued, Robinhood’s tax FAQ notes you may later receive a corrected form. Change the email before tax season when you can.

Wait until a statement or tax-ready notice arrives at the new address before you stop watching the old inbox.

Login and account quirks

  • One Settings email, several tax PDFs. A consolidated 1099 from Robinhood Markets can cover Securities, Crypto, Derivatives, and Money. A joint account, Robinhood Retirement (1099-R / 5498), Strategies managed accounts, and some forms such as 1042-S are described as separate packages.
  • Crypto tax forms stay in Tax center. If you traded digital assets, Robinhood describes a 1099-DA inside the tax package. That is a tax PDF in the app — not a reason to treat Finmail as a crypto payment product.
  • Gold Card, Cash Card, and spending are not the brokerage statement screen. Those products have their own issuers (for example a bank-issued card). Change their contact email where those accounts actually live.
  • Closed accounts. Tax center still holds forms after you close the investing account. Change the email before you lose app access if you still expect a notice.
  • US Robinhood. This walkthrough is the US app and robinhood.com.

The new address, and what this page does not do

A second Gmail is isolation inside Google at $0 — most people should stop here. Swiss hosting and end-to-end encryption are Proton Mail. Generic paid IMAP is Fastmail. [email protected] is only for US-hosted investing, banking, and tax mail that should not stay at Google. The mailbox table and Virginia IMAP notes live on the statement-email index.

Changing the delivery address does not stop impersonation mail. Treat unexpected “verify your account” links the same way you would in Gmail.

This walkthrough does not replace the Robinhood app, Tax center, or Reports and statements. It does not file your return, import a document ID into TurboTax, or give tax advice. Robinhood does not provide tax advice either.

Frequently asked questions

If I change my Robinhood email, do 1099 PDFs move to that inbox?
No. Tax documents stay in Tax center. Robinhood emails when they are ready. Download the PDF in the app or on web classic.

Is the Settings email the same as monthly statements?
No. Settings holds the account email. Statements are under Reports and statements. There is no separate bank-style paperless enrollment.

Is a second Gmail enough instead of Finmail?
Often yes. A second Gmail is isolation inside Google and costs nothing. Most people should stop there. Choose Finmail only if this mail should not live at Google.
