Pakistan – Traditional Tandoori Chai (tea) with Crispy Naan Khatai

Introduction

Tandoori chai is one of the most unique and famous tea around the world. It is basically cooked in a clay mug on hot sand to give it a unique and smokey taste. This is the most drinkable beverage in the world all people should try this. The interesting thing about this that it is cooked in a clay pot or cup to give it a earthy and smokey smell. This is famous in winters. People enjoy this in cold nights. This is very energetic drink some people feel low in the morning this refreshing beverage make them energetic. No morning is complete without a cup of tea. There are many types of tea.

You can have tea with some biscuits, cake, crumpets and other types of snacks but the best option is naan khatai.The smokey chai and sweet crispy naan khatai is the best combination. Naan khatai is prepared by adding plain flour, semolina, butter, sea same seeds, sugar etc.You can make this appetizing khatais in 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • Milk 2 cups
  • water 1cup
  • tea 3 tbsp
  • sugar 5 tbsp
  • almonds crushed 1 tbsp
  • cinnamon stick 1
  • cardamom powder 1/2 tsp

Method of making

Step 1

Heat a clay cup or mug on stove on medium flame.Take a pan and add milk,water and cardamom powder and turn the flame low and noil for 10 minutes after 10 minutes add the cinnamon stick,almond,sugar and tea in the pan and again boil for 15 minutes when the has dark brown colour add the tea in the clay pot and again boil until it overflows and then add this to another clay mug and remove cinnamom stick and serve.

Ingredients

  • Plain flour 3 cups
  • semolina 3 tbsp
  • sugar 2 tbsp
  • butter 1/2 cup

For garnish

  • almonds 1 tbsp
  • pistachios 1tbsp
  • cashew 1 tbsp

Method of cooking

Step 1

Take a large bowl and combine all the ingredients and mix well until the dough is formed.Let it sit for 2 hours.

Step 2

Pre -heat the oven to 300 degree Fahrenheit and then take a big spoon of dough and place it on a tray and put it in the oven and bake for 10 minutes.When the khatais is done place it on a tray and garnish with almonds, cashew etc.
