INTRODUCTION TO THE DISH

This dish is very simple and easy to cook with tremendous flavors and aromatic meat dish. This dish is actually a mince dish cooked with simple normal used spices at home. But the main factor of this simple dish is that this dish is cooked on tawa, a utensil used for cooking of ROTI ( Pakistani bread type ). KEEMA is known as mince in urdu and mince can be of any type of meat as preference like chicken, mutton or even beef

The name of the dish is very unique because the cooking on tawa for the purpose of making curry of masala. This dish is not seen anywhere but here in Pakistan.

WHAT IS TAWA?

The main heading of the dish is TAWA KEEMA so let me clear the thoughts about tawa, because KEEMA is actually Mince. Tawa is a utensil or griddle made up of usually steel or iron. But now non stick tawa are sold here that is properly used for making bread that are made daily like roti, paratha, naan. The use of tawa for making any sort of dish like this curry of gravy dish is not seen anywhere but here because the side of this utensil is not very broad.

As a street food of Pakistan, the food that is cook very quickly and easy must included in the street food of Punjab, Lahore. Lahore has special area known as FOOD STREET, that have food available of like very traditional to modern dishes. Those dishes are easy and quickest recipe is a part of street food of Pakistan because of the convenient method and taste level is very unique and yummy.

Punjabi cuisine is very famous through out the Pakistan and even out of Pakistan. The use of spices in their cuisine is very authentic and traditional aromatic flavors. They use the fresh ingredients that make every one to blew their mind by the taste and flavors of the dish. This dish is included in the Punjabi cuisine because of the authentic traditional facts. This dish is made on TAWA that are found in every house of the Pakistan even in restaurants to make breads and even this dish as all. Punjabi cuisine have many more dishes that are made on Tawa like :

INGREDIENTS

  • Mutton mince : 1 kilogram
  • Oil : 4 tbsp
  • Butter : 4 tbps
  • Salt : 1 tsp
  • Red pepper : 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder : 1 tbsp
  • Cumin powder : 1 tbsp
  • Garam masala : 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder : 1 tsp
  • Black powder : 1/2 tsp
  • Onion chopped : 2 large
  • Garlic chopped : 2 tsp
  • Ginger paste : 2 tbsp
  • Green chilies : 4
  • Tomatoes : 4 chopped

INGREDIENTS FOR GARNISHING

  • Green chilies sliced : 2
  • Ginger strips : 3 tbsp
  • Green coriander : 4 tbsp
  • Lemon slices : 2

COOKING METHOD

  • Take large TAWA on which this dish is going to make, On tawa add oil and butter and chopped onions in it.
  • Saute onion a little and add mince into until, now moisture of the mince releases and we have to fry it to dried the moisture completely.
  • Now add chopped tomatoes and garlic ginger paste into the mince mixture and fry until the aroma started appearing.
  • Its time to add all the dried spices into the mince with a cup of water in it and cover the mince with lid.
  • After 10 minutes when water dried and mince is ready.
  • Now garnish this dish with cilantro, green chilies and lemon over it.
  • ENJOY !
