Pakistan – Beef Nihari

INTRODUCTION

Beef Nihari is a traditional dish of Pakistan. It is well known because of its taste. Its little amount contains a lot of calories that’s why you can eat this only in small amount. People make this dish in some special day like Eid. Eid is a religious day of Muslims. Beef Nihari is used a lot in Pakistan.

INGREDIENTS

  • Beef = 1 kilogram
  • Ginger and garlic paste = 3 spoon
  • Kashmiri chili = 1 spoon
  • Crushed red chili = 1 spoon
  • Salt = 1 spoon
  • Turmeric = half tablespoon
  • Cumin seeds = 1 tablespoon
  • Dried ginger powder = 1 tablespoon
  • Yogurt = half cup
  • Fried onion = 2
  • Coriander seeds = 1 spoon
  • Black pepper = 1 tablespoon
  • Aniseeds = 1.5 spoon
  • Cloves = half tablespoon
  • Mace = 1
  • Cinnamon = 3
  • Small cardamom = 6
  • Big cardamom = 3
  • Star anise = 2
  • Maida = quarter cup

PROCEDURE

Take all the spices and chop them. Now take meat pieces and fry it in oil. Fry ginger and garlic separately. After one minute add kashmiri chili in it and all remaining spices in it. Add one spoon water in it and fry the mixture of spices. Now add one cup yogurt in the fried meat and add the fried mixture of spices. When the meat color changes add eight cups of water in t and cook it in pressure for twenty minutes. After twenty minutes when the meat dissolves take maida and add 1 cup of water in it. Add this mixture of maida and water in meat slowly and cook it. After some time Beef Nihari will be ready.

HOW TO SERVE?

Serve this dish with chopped green chili, fried onion slices and slices of lemon.
