Introduction

Chicken Enchiladas is one of the finest Mexican dishes in Mexico. This dish is very popular among Mexican people. But now it is not only famous in Mexico its popularity is famous all across the world. The dish has 2 main components the one is chicken which is very common in the world and the other is tortilla the word tortilla means Chapatti of Maize dough. It is a baking dish in which we bake it in the oven. The other components are cheeses, sauces like tomato sauce, chili-based sauce, etc., and other spices. This cuisine is also called street food in Mexico. It is an old dish of Mexican cuisine. This article which I wrote gives a brief intro and knowledge about Mexican dishes. When we talk about its taste, aroma, and fragrance, the taste of this dish is spicy because of the use of some chili sauces and its aroma and fragrance are such a mouthwatering and very rich nutritional value. So, you also can make this special street food at your own home by following the cooking procedure which is in a very easy way.

Definition of Title

When we talk about the title of the dish which is chicken enchiladas in which the word Enchiladas means a corn tortilla rolled around some sauces like tomato sauce, chili-based sauce, etc. and cheeses which are grated. So, the Enchiladas is maize dough chapatti role filling with boiled shred chicken with some spices and cover with cheeses and sauces and then bake it at the oven. In simple words, the word Enchilada means “dipped in chili”.

Origin and History

Every kind of dish must have origin and history in their cuisine’s introductory part with their respective cuisine’s tradition this is the most important portion of any cuisine. So, when we talk about the origin of this dish (Chicken Enchiladas) is originated from Mexico as I said above. It is a special and most common Mexican cuisine and some people say that Mexican cuisine is spicy and colorful mixed flavors. As we know that Mexican cuisines are full of proteins, vitamins, and carbohydrates. Chicken Enchiladas is one of the famous and most common Mexican Snacks. When we talk about the history of Enchiladas an American magazine of cuisine detailed that enchiladas are made by a chef of Mexico and prepared as a snack for tourists or for local people. There is much difference between street food Enchiladas in Mexico and Enchiladas made from outside of Mexico. This dish has many options like you can fill Enchiladas with other ingredients or mash items to make it delicious as your own taste. This dish becomes popular day-by-day.

Ingredients

  •  (Tomatoes) 4-5 medium
  • Cooking oil 2-3 tbs
  •  (Onion) chopped ½ Cup
  •  (Garlic) chopped 1 tsp
  • Tomato paste 1 tbs
  • (Black pepper) crushed 1 tsp
  • (Cumin powder) ½ tsp
  • Paprika powder ½ tsp
  • Dried oregano 1 tsp
  •  (Sugar) ½ tbs
  • Cayenne powder ½ tsp
  •  (Salt) ½ tsp or to taste
  •  (Vinegar) 1 tbs
  •  (Water) ½ Cup or as required
  •  (Water) 2 Cups
  • Chicken fillets 2
  •  (Onion) chopped ½ Cup
  • (Fresh coriander) chopped 2 tbs
  •  (Salt) ½ tsp or to taste
  • (Black pepper) crushed 1 tsp
  •  (Garlic) chopped 1 tsp
  • Tortilla 6-8
  •  (Onion) chopped
  • Cheddar cheese grated
  • Mozzarella cheese grated
  • Cheddar cheese grated ½ Cup or as required
  • Mozzarella cheese grated ½ Cup or as required
  • (Fresh coriander)

Cooking Procedure

  • First, take a frying pan, heat up at low flame place full tomatoes for roast from all sides on a frying pan.
  • After roasting tomatoes remove the outer layer from it.
  • Now take a knife and cut them into 5 to 6 pieces.
  • Then put 2 to 3 tbs of oil on it, add chopped onions, chopped garlic, tomato paste, crushed black pepper, cumin powder, paprika powder, dried oregano, sugar, cayenne powder, salt to taste, and vinegar into the frying pan.
  • Now mix them well and cook on medium flame until well mixed.
  • Then add water as required and cover the frying pan and cook on medium-low flame for approximately 15 to 18 minutes.
  • After this uncover the pan and mash them well with the help of a masher and mix it well.
  • Let leave it for cool and take the mixture and put it into the grinder and grind it well then set it aside.

For Boiling Chicken

  • Take a saucepan for boiling chicken.
  • Add 2 cups of water, 2 pieces of chicken fillets, chopped onion and fresh coriander, salt to taste, crushed black pepper chopped garlic mix, and bring it to boil.
  • Now cover the pan and cook on a medium flame for approximately 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Uncover the saucepan and cook on high flame until water dries up.
  • Shred the chicken properly through your hands and dish it out into the bowl.
  • Add tomato sauce into that bowl and mix it well.
  • Roll up tortilla and place saucy shred chicken onto the tortilla, chopped onion, and grated cheddar cheese and roll it.
  • Repeat this step for making more rolls approximately make 6 to 8 rolls.

Baking Process

  • Now take a baking dish and spread prepared tomato sauce on the surface of the baking dish.
  • Make 6 to 8 rolls and set one-by-one in a baking dish with the sequence.
  • Then put prepared tomato sauce again onto the roll, then grated cheddar cheese and mozzarella cheese onto the rolls.
  • Let’s bake it in the oven.
  • Before baking preheated your oven and then put the baking dish in it.
  • Bake it at 200 degrees temperature for approximately 10 to 15 minutes or until the cheese melts properly.
  • Now your chicken enchiladas are ready to eat.
  • You can add fresh coriander to it for garnishing it’s optional.
  • You can serve it with your family and your loved ones.
