Nepal – Masyaura

Masyaura is a very unique recipe of Nepal. We can use it as pakora or as a proper dish. This is actually the mixture of ” LENTILS” and “VEGETABLES”. Lentils are mixed with chopped vegetables and then dry them so that they give you a very unique and crispy tasty texture. You can also say that as a “SUN DRIED BALLS”. These sun-dried balls are made of black lentils especially. You can use different kinds of lentils as well but it is good to use Black lentils because of their taste and their texture. This is one of the old preserve foods of Nepal. This is one of the best dishes of the Native people of Nepal. This dish is very special because of the sun-dried balls, they totally depend upon the sun rays that give it a very unique texture. You cannot use anything for the dryness because it is the tradition of sun-dried balls.

There are different kinds of Masyaura dishes that you can enjoy in your meal like you can use make it curry masyaura or dried masyaura.

You can also call them dry nuggets because they are made with lentils and vegetables. You can use different kinds of vegetables which you like according to your taste, it totally depends upon you. If you are diet conscious then it is also very beneficial for you because masyaura is the mixture or combination of Carbohydrates and Proteins and we all know that proteins are very good for human health, for gym people, and for all men and women.

You can use different kinds of vegetables included

  • Taro
  • yam
  • Colocasia leaf

Most people think that they are soy chunks but they are not, they look like soy chunks but they are different according to taste and ingredients. some of the ingredients are the same but we cannot call the same. The main difference between them is soy chunks are made with soya beans and masyara is made with minced vegetables. You can serve it with different varieties like rice, which may be boiled or fried. It can be stored for months to a year and is packed with protein, minerals, and vitamins. when fresh vegetables aren’t available, the advice suggests a more nutritious approach.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SOY CHUNKS AND MASYAURA

The main difference between soy chunks and masyaura is

  • soy chuncks are made by soy beans
  • Masyaura is made by minced vegetables

Most people think that they both are the same because they look like same but they are not the same in taste.

SUN-DRIED METHOD

Sun-dried is the FOOD PRESERVATION METHOD. In this dried method, food’s water is totally dried and the bacteria of food is totally ending. This method is from ancient times, but now people used many types of equipment for the dryness of food but some dishes totally depends on it because this is the best method of food’s dryness. There are different types of food preservation like wind drying, smoking, sun drying, food drying, etc.

BLACK LENTILS

Black lentils are small dark-colored lentils that are full of proteins and very beneficial for human health. Black lentils are pleasant and popular and can use many flavors. Boil the dried onions in a pole and start making layers of flavor, or mash with half an onion, some crushed garlic, or a bunch of greens. Once the lentils have cooled, add the red vinegar or butter. Try dipping fennel seeds, cabbage, and herbs or pepper, lemon, and fruit in olive oil.

TARO

Taro is a vegetable that is not common but it is actually very good in taste and looks like a potato. Its taste is like SWEET POTATO ad we call them Colocasia esculenta. Taro is actually similar to Sweet potato but it is not the same in taste but almost similar. Taro is starchy food. Taro is full of CARBOHYDRATES AND FIBER.

YAM

Yam is also looked like a Sweet potato but it is not actually a sweet potato. Its color is orange and shaped like a potato. It is the best energy vegetable. Yam is available in Africa, Asia, and America.

INGREDIENTS

  • Masaura
  • onions
  • potato
  • taro
  • yam
  • ginger
  • garlic
  • tomatoes
  • red chili powder
  • green chilies
  • salt
  • oil
  • water
  • curd
  • Fenugreek Seeds
  • Cumin Seeds

METHOD OF COOKING

  • Grind the lentils in the grinder and make paste of it.
  • Minced all vegetables on the other hand.
  • for maing masala, tak a pan and add oil in it.
  • Fry onions and tomatoes in oil along with garlic and ginger paste.
  • mix all the things and make balls of it.
  • Now leave it in a sun rays to dry.
  • And then use them in your meal.
