Futari is the famous term used in Tanzania to mean meal taken during Ramadhan period.
The food is prepared most with Islamic women (in all parts of the country) and enjoyed by anyone.
It is taken almost from coastal areas of Tanzania and spread in within the country, being delicious this meal is now cooked as part of daily home food meal and enjoyed by family all over the country.
There are various kinds of Futari, depending on one need;
- Potatoes Futari
- Meat Futari
- Cassava Futari
- Rice Futari
- Spagheti Futari and so on.
Let’s prepare the Cassava Fish Futari, welcome.
- 5 Big Cassava.
- 1 Fish.
- 2 Coconut.
- Grinded garlic.
- Red pepper.
- Some may add many food favour as they like.
- Peel off Cassava and cut into small rectangled shapes, put in water.
- Prepare fish by removinf scales and cut into portions, wash and put in clean plate.
- Juice up coconut, cut onions, carrots and red pepper into very small pieces.
- Boil fish using water and little amount of oil. You may add lemon or garlic if you want.
- Boiling fish may consume 20-25 minutes.
- Boil Cassava together with onions, carrots and red pepper pieces, garlic, salt and cardamon.
- Boiling Cassava may take around 45 minutes, be sure to check them after 30 minutes.
- When you notice Cassava are about to be ready (on 30-40 minutes), add milk and coconut.
- Leave it to boil.
- When the mix is ready, take fish piece on a plate and pour some Futari over it. (see picture 1)
