Singapore, Indonesia – Kwetiau Goreng

This dish is a very unique dish, it actually called a Chinese dish but it is related to the cuisine of Singapore and Indonesia. Kwetiau Goreng is the cuisine of Singapore and as well as Indonesia. It consists of simple rice and noodles. This is considered to be one of the best and simple dishes in Singapore. Usually, people of Indonesia want to eat breakfast. It is a FRIED RICE NOODLES. The color of the dish is so white that you even think about the spices but the best thing is its taste. The taste is really mouth-watering.

The meaning of Kwetiau is “FLAT NOODLES”. The two main ingredients of this dish are RICE and NOODLES. Actually, the main thing about this dish is the identification of noodles. There are many types of noodles that we can use in our dishes, but which type of noodles we can use in Kwetiau Goreng is to be known. Many people thought that we can use any type of noodles like curly, simple, flat, etc but it is not true.

You can add any type of meat or vegetables to it, it is totally up to you but rice and noodles are compulsory. The other things that you can add is also under some conditions like you should not make it spicy and use some Chinese spices to make it soft and salty. If you want the pure vegetarian kwetiau goreng then you can use tofu instead of any meat.

Kwetiau Goreng use the special sauce of Indonesia which is very famous and especially use in kewtiau Goreng called “KECAP MENIS”.

Kwetiau Goreng is also used as street food in Singapore. You can even eat this anytime you want like in

ORIGIN AND HISTORY

The dish “KWETIAU GORENG” actually comes from CHINA. The people of China when migrated to the INDONESIA then it starts popular in Indonesia. so, basically, the origin of this dish is CHINA.

In the 7th century, when two centuries combined together then the cuisine of their countries also spread in these countries and become their national and traditional cuisines.

Cuisines of different countries are almost similar like SINGAPORE, MALAYSIA, INDONESIA, CHINA, etc.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN NOODLES, VERMICELLI, AND KWETIAU

Almost all types of noodles dishes are originated from CHINA, so these are too originated from China. Noodles are very popular among the people of China because the Chinese consider the noodle as a sign of LONG LIFE, that is why they use noodles in every dish of China.

Vermicelli is also originated from China but the main difference is that it is made with the flour of rice. Vermicelli looks different from all other noodles because it is thin and feels like jelly.

Kwetiau is also similar but it is made with two flours, rice, and wheat flour. It is almost similar in taste but the appearance is different. It is wide in texture and shape.

Kecap Manis is also known as SWEET SOY SAUCE and originated in INDONESIA.

INGREDIENTS

  • kwetiaw
  • salt
  • eggs
  • black pepper
  • soy sauce
  • garlic
  • cooking oil
  • onions
  • rice
  • noodles
  • vinegar

CONDIMENTS

  • chicken sauce
  • garlic
  • beef meatball
  • cucumber
  • leeks
  • bean sprouts
  • carrots
  • green mustard leaves
  • white cabbage
  • eggs

SEASONING

  • tomato ketchup
  • chili sauce
  • cucumber
  • fish sauce
  • sweet soy sauce
  • oyster sauce
  • vinegar
  • kecap
  • salt
  • chicken powder
  • fried shallots

METHOD

FOR RICE

  • You just have to boiled the rice, for this you can take a bowl and add water in it.
  • soak the rice in the wtaer for about half an hour.
  • now put the rice in the water and heat it.
  • add pinch of salt in it.
  • boiled it enough to not be crunchy.
  • remove it when it is boiled.

FOR NOODLES

  • Take pan, add oil in it.
  • Chopped the onions and galric.
  • Add to it.
  • Add all the vegetables to it.
  • Add spices in it.
  • Leave it to cook.
  • Add all the sauce to it.
  • saute it well.

ASSEMBLING

  • Now put all the things together.
  • put noodles and rice together.
  • Spread all the sauce over it.
