About the dish

The most famous and the most yummy lamb dish is mutton champ masala. In Urdu we call chops (champ) and gravy (masala). This dish is one of the yummiest dish around Pakistan. All people should try this once. This dish is mouth is so yummy that make you droll. It is very famous on eid – ul – adha people love to eat this on eid dinner. This is also served on weddings. Some people make it like first they fry chops and then make the gravy and then mix it together and some people make it like they cook the chops and masala together. There are many types of mutton champ masala:

  • fried champ masala
  • champ masala
  • mutton stock masala
  • deep fries champ masala
  • BBQ champ masala

Some people like to give a smokey flavor to the champ and then add to the gravy (masala) this taste even better. The ingredients are very simple but the taste is unique.This is prepared by adding Mutton chops, onions, tomatoes, yogurt, salt, red chili, green chili, cumin, coriander, star anise and many other ingredients.

Ingredients of the dish

  1. mutton chops = 1 kg
  2. onions = 2 large
  3. tomatoes = 1 small
  4. yogurt = 2 cups
  5. green chili = 5
  6. water = 3 cups
  7. salt = 2 tsp
  8. red chili flakes = 1 tsp
  9. black pepper = 1/2 tsp.
  10. ginger paste = 1 tsp
  11. garlic paste = 1 tsp
  12. cumin = 1 tsp
  13. coriander = 2 tbsp
  14. ghee = 4 tbsp

Method

  1. First take a bowl and add the chops, coriander, cumin, ginger paste, garlic paste, salt and leave it aside for 5 hours and then take a pan and turn the heat medium.
  2. Now take the chops and place on the pan and let it cook for 15 minutes on each sides drizzle a little bit oil on top.
  3. Now take a deep pot and water, salt, black pepper, red chili flakes, yogurt, onions, tomatoes and let it cook for 30 minutes on low flame.
  4. Now you see that the gravy started to thicken now turn the flame high and cook again for 15 minutes.After 15 minutes add the chops in the gravy and mix well. Now let it cook for 10 minutes and then place it in a deep dish.
  5. Enjoy.
