Nepal – Samay Baji

Samay baji is like a platter which consists of many dishes in a single plate but in small quantity. It is a traditional dish of Nepal and present in every house. It is not just a single dish actually it is a total meal of a person. Samay baji is one of the exciting food that consists of every type of food you like. Everyone in Nepal like this type of meal because it is not a single base dish, it consists of many dishes and it is up to you that which type of dish you want to add to this but it is necessary to have rice, chappati, any type of sweet dish of salad as well.

Samy baji of Nepal is actually a sign of “GOOD LUCK” “HEALTH”. It symbolized these things and a very peaceful represented dish that is why in every event Samay baji is a must to eat.

Every festival and event is incomplete without Samay Baji. Many countries know about the samay baji and modify it by their ingredients and present the dishes but in a different name.

This is a NEWARI FOOD.

ORIGIN

At the beginning of Newar, all the people of Newar are mostly Farmers and they have different tastes and different styles of cooking. So this dish is invented at that time when Newar people are farmers and they invent it with fresh ingredients.

As we that fresh vegetables have a different and very fresh taste to eat. At that time, there was no concept of breakfast so they have it in the breakfast also.

KHEN

  • Eggs

BHUTI

  • Peas

  • tomatoes

SAAG

  • Spinach

FRIED POTATOES

  • potatoes

DIRECTIONS

BHUTI

  1. Firstly you have to soak the peas in the water, it must be overnight
  2. Now move toward the cooking, take a pan and add oil to it.
  3. heat the oil and then add 1 tablespoon of turmeric to it.
  4. Add red chili powder, cumin seeds, salt, and all other ingredients along with peas.
  5. cook them for 30 minutes and bhuti is ready.

KHEN

  • The very first thing is to boil the eggs.
  • Now add oil in the pan and fry the boil eggs.
  • Add all the spices in it.
  • brown the eggs so its burned smell is so delicious.
  • add salt over it at the end.

SAAG

  • Boiled the saag for about 3 to 4 hours.
  • Now add salt, cumin seeds, red chili powder and coriander in it.
  • leave it for cook and your saag is ready.

FRIED POTATOES

  • Cut the potatoes in the small pieces.
  • heat in the pan.
  • add all the spices in it.
  • now add potatoes in it and leave it to cook.
