About the dish

Lugaimat is one of the most delicious and appetizing deserts in Kuwait. Lugaimat is basically small sweet balls with sugar syrup on top. This dessert is so delicious. This is a bite-size dessert. It is considered the most eatable dessert in Kuwait. There is no comparison of this dish. The texture of the sweet balls is soft and spongy and when the top of sugar becomes sticky and sweeter. Some people do not like extra sweet so you can have this alone (without sugar syrup). You can also top it with some dry fruits and nuts like cashew, peanuts, walnuts, pistachios, raisins, etc. This is easy to eat. you can also have this as a snack. This is a grab-and-go snack. Some people like to serve this at weddings, gatherings or functions, etc. This is available at every restaurant in Kuwait. this is also very popular in Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, etc. Lugaimat is also called ”sweet dough balls”. This is a little similar to doughnuts but not exactly the same. The traditional way of cooking is you have to deep fry the sweet balls and then cover them with sugar glaze and top with some nuts. This is the most simple and delicious dish in Kuwait. The nuts add some kind of crunch to the dish with a taste so good. You can serve this to your guest to impress them. The important part of the dish is the Lugaimat has to be golden brown if you fried it too much then it will not taste good and become crispy on the outside.

All the people in the world should try this once in their life. The taste of it is unique and yummy. The aroma of it makes you drool. This is so simple and easy to make at home. You can serve this with chocolate, sugar glaze, and nuts, etc.

Ingredients for sweet balls

  • 2 cups plain flour
  • 5 tbsp corn starch
  • 1/4tsp saffron
  • 2 tbsp yeast
  • 1 egg
  • 4 tbsp sugar
  • 3 tbsp milk powder
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • oil for frying
  • 1 cup water

Cooking

Take a bowl and add plain flour, corn starch, milk powder, and mix it well until all the things are well combined. Now take a bowl and add yogurt, sugar, and egg and whisk it until smooth liquid forms. Now take another bowl and add the water and yeast in it and then cover it with a kitchen towel and keep it aside for 1 hour. Now take the dry ingredients bowl and the smooth liquid in it and mix it and now add the yeast, water, and saffron in it and knead it with your hands until a dough is formed.

Now take a deep cooking pot and fill it with oil now take small balls of dough and make it round with your hands and then add it in the oil and fry until golden brown do not overcook it.

Ingredients for sugar glaze

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tbsp corn syrup
  • 1 tsp coconut oil
  • 1 tsp saffron

Cooking

Take a pan and add all the ingredients and mix until the sugar melts and thick syrup forms. Now take the sweet balls and pour the sugar glaze on top of them and top with some nuts.
