Shito is a cuisine that is scares and may not be known until written on. The dish is very common in Ghana. Shito is a sauce that is very typical to Ghanaians. They proceduce and store this sauce in transparent bottles in refrigerators. This sauce in Ghana is valued like that of ketchup. The sauce after it is preserved, it is best eating with bread, or rice, garri, fried palntains. It is a wonderful accompaniment that I love each and every one of you who read this should try it out.
Looking at the name shito, or how it sounds when pronounced seems funny. But this name means, chilli. This is one of the languages spoken in the region of Accra the capital of Ghana. Shito can also be used to spice meat, chicken or fish for barbecue. What you all have to just know about shito is that, it is a traditional spicy sauce from Ghana. To prepare shito follow guide;
- 500ml of peanut oil
- Three onions
- Fresh ginger
- Chili pepper
- Green bell pepper
- Chili powder
- Smoke fish
- Salt to taste
- Mashed potato soup
- Chop garlics and ginger. Keep aside.
- Blend your ginger and garlics
- Grind your dry fish and keep aside.
- Blend tomatoes.
- Heat pot and put oil. Fry onions until it is translucent.
- Add your garlics and ginger and stir well. Fry for about 2-3min
- Add tomatoes and fry. And your thyme and stir well.
- Add powder chili and chili pepper Stir and allow pot for like 25min
- After 25min add dry ground fish and stir. Make sure you stir well as to prevent the mixture from sticking to the pot.
- At this point, the content of the pot should be dark brawn. Continuer stirring.
- Add your salt to taste and maggi. Stir well and allow for about 2min.
- After it is ready, allow it to cool well, then you put in a preservative glass and store in your refrigerator. This cool take about 1-2month.
Serve with Bread or fried ripe plantains
