Egypt – Hawawshi

This dish depends upon the filling of meat which is filled in a pita, pita must be crispy and crunchy and its filling must be spicy. This is called “PITA POCKET”. Its filling is just like qeema or kofta which is stuffed in pita pockets. We can call it a pocket because we are filling in it. It is one of the most popular Egyptian dishes because it is simple, tasty, and frozen. After cooking, consider adding salad, cheese, tomatoes, or even jalapeno and Cyrano pepper to the jetpack. This is also called a “PITA SANDWICH”.

This is a very perfect dish for EGYPTIANS. They fill the pockets of pita bread with different kinds of stuff and tastes. This dish totally depends upon the taste of the filling, if you want spicy filling then it is up to you and it totally depends upon the taste of the filling and their ingredients.

This recipe is actually a time taking but, easy to make. Your efforts never disappoint you in your cooking. This is one of a typical Egyptian sandwiches. A popular Middle Eastern bread with toast, onion, pepper, and parsley. The luxurious recipe is made with a leavened bag filled with a delicious mixture of meat and onions, hot peppers, and fresh vegetables. This sandwich is very tasty so you can enjoy it anytime in your day but most people eat this in the morning, in breakfast especially. It is basically a dough (or pita) that is a mixture of ground meat with spices, onions, garlic, hot peppers, and fresh herbs.

This dish is made by the butcher who named as Ahmed al-Hawawshi, he started his business of sandwich and spread it all over the world.

INGREDIENTS

  • meat

METHOD

  • for making masala, you have to take a pan and add oil in it.
  • heat the oil over a medium flame.
  • Chopped the onions and tomatoes on the other hand.
  • Add chopped onions in the oil and fry them until its color changes to light brown.
  • Add ginger and garlic paste in it.
  • Now add tomatoes in it and fry them more.
  • Add yogurt to it.
  • Leave it to dissolve.
  • chopped all the vegetables and meat.
  • now mix them in the masala and fry them more.
  • Leave it over medium heat and then fill them in the pita bread.
