Cameroon – Pourish Irish Potatoes Commonly Known as: Hot-Pot

Pourish Irish potatoes Is a simple dish and loved by many Cameroonians. The dish is easy to cook and less expensive. During this hard time of the corona virus spread all over the continents, many countries have implemented national lock downs to prevent the spread of this virus. The preparation of simple dishes is important as so many will manage during this hard time. Some will even love to try preparing some dishes that they were not able to do so because of their busy daily schedule. As they seat home, preparing pourish Irish potatoes or hot pot should be one among the many simple dishes they will choose to cook or prepare.

Ingredients

  • 15-20 Irish potatoes
  • 5 tomatoes
  • 3 grind cups of crayfish (optional)
  • Ginger
  • 1 large carrot and about 10 green beans
  • Vegetable oil
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Garlics
  • Onions
  • 4-5 Maggi
  • 3 to 7 cups of water
  • Dry fish
  • Chicken

Procedure

  • Slice carrot and green beans into presentable slices and boil with pinch of salt. When ready put aside.
  • if using chicken process, cut and put in a pot.
  • Blend your spices and add to the pot. That is garlics and ginger and pepper and add to the pot of chicken with salt to taste. Add four cups of water, allow it to cook for about 20min. After this, you could still grill the chicken in the oven about 10 or 15min. But make sure you keep chicken stock.
  • Peel the Irish potatoes. Wash the Irish potatoes right after that and put in pot. Leave it to boil for about 20min with half way the pot. Make sure the water doesn’t dry off as well as the potatoes shouldn’t get to ready.
  • Slice tomatoes and onions and keep aside. Stand vegetable oil and allow it to heat up. Pour in onions and allow it for about 2min after which you turn in your tomatoes steer until When you see the tomatoes start sticking to the pot.
  • When your chicken is ready after 10min or grilling, turn it into the pot of frying tomatoes and onions with the chicken stock. This is necessary as nutrients are added. Steer well. leave it for about 5min.
  • Check to make sure the water hasn’t dried-off. Add if necessary if you find out the water is dried-off.
  • Add in carrot and green beans and steer. Add in water, 2 cups or more if you want it to be really soupy.
  • Add in your boiled Irish potatoes and steer well.
  • Allow the pot for about 10 min.
  • Add oil if necessary but Steer well after that and it for some time more.
  • You could use palm oil or vegetable oils. It depends on you but vegetable oil is best.
